I bought the combo with Fishing Gel; when night fishing I applied a thin layer on the outside of the soft lure. After the light dims, it's easier for me to judge the lure's position; as for the fish's reaction, that still depends on the day's water conditions.

Using the smaller version for largemouth bass has been a blast. It gives a dead shiner just enough twitch to trigger reaction strikes from lazy fish holding in the weeds.
